Amidst all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season there are many trials and tribulations. Just when things seem to be going right and good in life, something throws a ringer and puts everything into chaos.
Last week, I was hurting in my abdomen and side, I knew I couldn't take time off work so I ignored the pain for as long as I could. Finally on Friday I gave in, I took time off and went to see the doctor. His initial diagnosis confirmed what I had feared. Appendicitis. He sent me to the ER at the local hospital (great if ya need a bandaid). I got there around 3:00 and didn't leave unil 10:00. I played the part of a pin cushion and obedient patient drinking really icky barium. Did I mention that during that 7 hours, they never once asked if I needed a drink?
After the first hour or so in the ER they had decided it was not likely my appendix at all. So they drew blood, did the urinalysis, and then finally a CT. I wish it had been appendicitis. They found a multitude of cyst on my right ovary, not really that uncommon for women and nothing I haven't had before. But this time they also found a mass in the pelvic region. I am scared.
